Downtown Denizen: Nohemi Zatarain

Nohemi Zatarain
Co-Owner, Uptown Children’s Boutique

What is something about you that most people don’t know?
Most people don’t know that I LOVE to cook. I sometimes just open my fridge and start pulling items out and see what I can create.

If you won $100 million, what would you buy first?
First I would set aside a nice college account for my children (education comes first), then I will make sure my mother is well taken care off (family comes second). After all that was done, I think I would like to travel and never look back.

If you had to choose just one place to vacation every year for the rest of your life, where would it be?
I think I would love to travel to Maya Riviera, there is just so much you can do from swimming with the turtles, hiking, and of course the rich history of the Mayas.

What is your proudest accomplishment?
Having my own store – this has been my dream for a long time and finally after much work and sacrifice, I’m here. Yeah!

Do you have a favorite quote or saying that inspires you?
The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. To me it represents the choices in life that we must decide between. We can pick only one option, even though we wish we could choose both at times.

If you could try out any job for a day, what would you like to try?
I think I would like to be a pop star or a movie star. They always seem to receive the best treatment everywhere they go. I wouldn’t mind being pampered for a day.

Who was your childhood celebrity crush?
To this day and always, Johnny Depp. Seems like he always portrays some sort of cute bad boy, it suits him.

What is your favorite downtown venue?
Beside Uptown Children’s Boutique (just kidding), I like Gold Spike; it’s like a Chuck E. Cheese’s for adults with cocktails.

In which store would you choose to max out your credit card?
Target is my store, you can always count on Target carrying so much cute stuff. I only wish it was open 24 hours.

What was the last great book you read?
Its not last book I read, but it’s the greatest book I’ve read: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It’s inspired me to follow my dreams, and don’t give up no matter what the cost.
